We are seeking an energetic and motivated

Health and Safety Coordinator - Construction


This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well established and thriving company in Waterloo! You will work with a group of hard working individuals dedicated to providing quality work! This position reports to the General Manager or the Construction Site and have a permanent interaction with the Senior Project Managers, Superintendents and Coordinators.

Responsibilities:

• Assess the company’s Construction’s compliance with Health and Safety legislation in order to promote the well-being of workers in the workplace, avoid exposure to risk and reduce risks related to workplace injuries and/or non-compliance fines and penalties.
• Be present during any Ministry of Labour or government jobsite inspections and ensure required documentation is posted as per OHSA.
• Conduct daily / weekly jobsite inspections to minimize or alleviate unsafe work conditions and prevent workplace accidents; problem solving and providing recommendations related to workplace practices / conditions and accident investigations.
• Prepare inspection / closure reports outlining the results of all jobsite inspections. Report findings to Project Team and applicable Subcontractors.
• Contribute to the development of the emergency response plan.
• Lead the rescue/first aid crews and oversee the first aid facilities
• Responsible for accident investigations and reports.
• Lead safety meetings and new worker’s safety orientation and training
• Coordinate all legal training and necessary re-certification; maintain training records.
• Attend bi-monthly Joint Health and Safety Committee meeting and record minutes; be prepared with list of past safety issues along with management recommendations for discussion.
• Maintain all health and safety records in an audit ready format.

Qualifications:

• College Diploma/ University degree in related field is preferred
• Solid understanding of construction and 2+ experience in Health and Safety Coordination in this environment
• Must be well versed in Microsoft Project and Excel
• Stellar time management and organization
• Self motivated
• ICI experience is preferred
